Gem State Staffing is hiring an Energy Technician Assistant for a full-time position in Twin Falls, Idaho. This role supports residential weatherization and energy efficiency projects and requires the ability to work with little to no supervision. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and skilled in construction, carpentry, and weatherization techniques.

This position is well-suited for experienced construction professionals seeking advancement in energy efficiency, home repair, and supervisory roles.

Responsibilities: The Energy Technician Assistant will be responsible for supervising crews, performing advanced weatherization work, and supporting production goals, including:

Supervision & Training:

  • Supervise weatherization installers as assigned
  • Assist in training installers on safety procedures, home repair, and weatherization techniques
  • Act as Crew Leader in the absence of the assigned lead, including planning work schedules

Weatherization & Construction Duties:

  • Perform residential weatherization work with proficiency, including:
    • Blowing cellulose and fiberglass insulation in attics, walls, and mobile homes
    • Installing floor, duct, water pipe, and water heater insulation
    • Installing primary windows, doors, and storm windows
    • Performing air sealing and air infiltration measures (caulking, glazing, weatherstripping, blower door testing)
    • Installing roofing materials and performing minor roof repairs
    • Making repairs to foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs
    • Installing additional energy-saving devices
    • Assisting with furnace data collection using diagnostic equipment
  • Operate hand tools and power tools, including saws, pneumatic tools, drills, and insulation blowers

Equipment, Data & Reporting:

  • Maintain and monitor vehicles and weatherization equipment
  • Report equipment damage or loss and coordinate repairs
  • Record job data accurately on required forms
  • Prepare labor and production reports for client homes
  • Assist with follow-up visits and provide energy education to clients

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and adequate auto insurance (DOT driving record check required)
  • Minimum 3 years carpentry or residential construction experience preferred
  • 1 year supervisory experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to work independently and modify work schedules as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel out of town overnight
  • Ability to attend required weatherization training programs
