Gem State Staffing is seeking a dependable, hardworking Yard Operator to join a leading steel distribution company in Jerome, Idaho. As a Yard Operator, you will assist with receiving, storing, organizing, loading, and distributing steel pipe and related materials while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized yard. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience as a yard laborer, warehouse associate, material handler, shipping and receiving clerk, forklift operator, or construction laborer.

Responsibilities:

• Assist loader operators with loading and unloading flatbed trucks.
• Receive, inspect, verify, and organize incoming steel pipe and materials.
• Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
• Read work orders, shipping orders, purchase orders, and material requests.
• Move materials throughout the yard using proper material handling procedures.
• Organize inventory on racks and in designated storage locations.
• Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy.
• Help maintain inventory through cycle counts and physical inventory.
• Assist with truck loading using straps, wood blocks, and securement materials.
• Keep the yard, warehouse, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform general facility maintenance including mowing, weed eating, sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
• Record inventory transactions using company computer systems.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures while wearing required PPE.
• Complete supply requisitions and assist with additional yard duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a warehouse, shipping yard, manufacturing, construction, distribution, or industrial environment preferred.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb.
• Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lift over 100 pounds with proper equipment or assistance.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and steel products.
• Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $17-19.00 /hour, Depending on experience

Shift: Days, Monday – Friday

Minimum Age: 18+
