Logistics Associate – On-Call

Job Description

We are seeking reliable, customer-focused individuals for an on-call position in the logistics department of a busy frozen storage warehouse at Simplot in Caldwell. This role provides support in multiple areas and offers cross-training.

Primary Duties (you will be trained in all areas):

  • Front counter support – greet drivers, process incoming/outgoing deliveries and shipments, complete paperwork, answer phones, and provide excellent customer service
  • Scale house operations – accurately weigh trucks in and out, enter weights into computer system, issue scale tickets

Schedule & Hours:

  • On-call position (hours vary week to week: 0–49 hours possible)
  • Must have open availability for both day shift and night shift (strong preference)

  • Starting Pay Rate $18.00/hr 
  • Weekly Payroll Schedule

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Intermediate computer skills (data entry, basic programs, email)
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work in cold/refrigerated areas when needed

We only had 3 branches at that time!  Over the years, I've managed Boise, Twin Falls-Burley, and back to Boise again. I was promoted to COO/District Manager for Idaho and our single location in Salt Lake City, and operated in that capacity for 8 years. We opened several new locations under my direction and increased our geographic footprint to cover all of Southern Idaho. Many of the employees currently employed by Gem State Staffing were hired and trained by me, a feat I am very proud of.

In early 2020 the ownership for Gem State Staffing offered me an opportunity to buy the Caldwell branch and operate the location under a franchise-like agreement. I'm happy to report that in January 2024, I completed my purchase of Gem State Staffing-Caldwell.
