Job Summary

Gem State Staffing in Pocatello are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cold Storage Forklift Operator to join our food processing warehouse team. This role involves operating specialized standing, sit down and reach forklifts within a temperature-controlled environment to efficiently load, unload, and organize perishable food products. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong warehouse experience, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety standards. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of cold storage operations and ensuring timely distribution of goods.

Duties

• Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment safely within cold storage facilities to load and unload shipments.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately pick, pack, and track inventory.
• Assist with order picking processes, including <PERSON> picker tasks, to fulfill shipping and receiving demands.
• Handle materials with care, including heavy lifting and precise placement to prevent product damage.
• Support shipping and receiving operations by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating forklifts, clamp trucks, crane equipment, and other heavy machinery in a warehouse setting.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse distribution processes, order picking, shipping & receiving procedures.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and inventory control software.
• Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Prior experience in cold storage or food processing warehouses is highly desirable.
• Understanding of OSHA safety regulations relevant to warehouse operations.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods.
• Warehouse supervisor experience or leadership skills are a plus.
