Job Opportunity: Skilled Construction Laborer

Gem State Staffing-Nampa is currently seeking three (3) motivated Laborers to join a premier local specialty contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in specialized construction services, including concrete sealing, waterproofing, and fireproofing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour (Depends on Experience)
  • Weekly payroll, every Friday for last week's hours
  • Overtime: Heavy overtime available! Expect 20–30 hours of OT per week.
  • Travel Perks: When traveling out of town, the company provides: Company-paid hotel accommodations, Daily per diem for meals/incidental expenses, Transportation to the job site.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in professional concrete sealing and waterproofing applications.
  • Apply fireproofing materials to commercial and industrial structures.
  • Utilize hand tools and equipment for professional caulking and joint sealing.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site, adhering to all OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Load and unload materials and prepare equipment for daily operations.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Experience: Ideal candidates will have prior experience with caulking or sealant application.
  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel out of town for projects as needed.
  • Transportation: Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the shop/dispatch location.
  • Availability: Ability to work extended hours and weekends to accommodate consistent overtime.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Note: Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Gem State Staffing is an equal opportunity employer.

We only had 3 branches at that time!  Over the years, I've managed Boise, Twin Falls-Burley, and back to Boise again. I was promoted to COO/District Manager for Idaho and our single location in Salt Lake City, and operated in that capacity for 8 years. We opened several new locations under my direction and increased our geographic footprint to cover all of Southern Idaho. Many of the employees currently employed by Gem State Staffing were hired and trained by me, a feat I am very proud of.

In early 2020 the ownership for Gem State Staffing offered me an opportunity to buy the Caldwell branch and operate the location under a franchise-like agreement. I'm happy to report that in January 2024, I completed my purchase of Gem State Staffing-Caldwell.
