Position Summary

The Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring the operational performance, safety, and environmental compliance of the facility. This role involves daily interaction with SCADA control systems, making operational adjustments, performing preventative maintenance, conducting laboratory work, and submitting environmental compliance reports. A strong focus on safety and maintaining a clean work culture is essential.

The plant is currently under construction, with commissioning expected in the coming months. During the construction period, the Plant Operator will assist in setting up the shop and warehouse, supporting the development of operating manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and receiving training on the operations and maintenance of new equipment being installed.

Working Conditions

  • Daily use of computers and electronic control systems for process monitoring and adjustments.
  • Routine operation of gas sampling equipment, mobile process analyzers, and laboratory instruments.
  • Regular operation of industrial vehicles and heavy machinery.
  • Periodic lifting or moving of heavy materials (up to 60 lbs).
  • Regular use of various power and manual tools.
  • Walking over uneven terrain or climbing equipment ladders as needed.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gas monitors, and high-visibility vests is required for some tasks.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous materials.

Position may require extended hours and "On-call" availability

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and social regulations for all on-site personnel.
  • Collaborate with the assistant manager to improve plant operations by researching technology, processes, and plant performance reactions.
  • Monitor, maintain, and operate the anaerobic digester, manure feedstock preparation, RNG upgrader, and supporting equipment through operational adjustments, maintenance, and analysis.
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports on production, operational trends, and plant availability to the Plant Manager and senior management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable facility at all times.
  • Perform laboratory work, record process data, and make informed process control decisions.
  • Manage and coordinate vendor and contractor work, including assisting with deliveries and overseeing their activities.
  • Maintain inventory and proper storage of spare parts and operating supplies.
  • Manage the budget, ensuring adherence to accounting practices.

 

Job Requirements

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical fundamentals, including troubleshooting.
  • Ability to think critically and take pride in ownership of work.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Familiarity with PLC/SCADA control systems.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility to provide 'on call' support and adapt to varied schedules.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam and aptitude test.
