Gem State Staffing is currently accepting applications for five full-time, temporary-to-permanent Powder Blend Operators with a dairy foods manufacturer in Gooding. This is a physically-demanding position, as employees are required to repetitively package, weigh, and palletize large bags of whey powder.

Job Description: Powder Blend Operators will seal, shrink-wrap, and palletize large bags of whey in preparation for product transport and storage. They will also break down and blend existing bags of whey to various specifications. Machine and heavy equipment operating constitutes a vital function of the position; employees will use industrial vacuums, packaging machines, and forklifts to complete necessary tasks throughout their shifts. Powder Blend Operators are additionally required keep an accurate and thorough written count of the weight of each packaged unit, the equipment they use, and the bags/pallets they prepare and/or break down. They are also responsible for sanitizing all of the equipment they use throughout the (de-)packaging processes. The work is repetitive and physically-demanding, as the (de-)bagging and packaging equipment is heavy.

General Requirements:

•  Packages powder, seals bags, and hand stacks on pallets
• Check/weighs packages
• Apply labels to packages
• Operates forklift and stacks pallets in a safe and efficient manner
• Operate and clean shrink wrapper
• Operate and clean metal detector
• Clean remaining packaging equipment
• Assists in restacking and re-bagging powder as necessary
• Operate and clean dust collection system
• Operate and clean commercial sized vacuum
• Operate, calibrate, and clean scales in packaging and pre-weigh rooms
• Operate J-truck safely and efficiently
• Validate and clean magnet
• Pre-weigh ingredients into smaller batches with precision & cleanliness
• Vacuum pallets and individual bags thoroughly
• Operate super sack un-loader
• Accurately select bags and pallets to be dumped
• Breaks bags in a safe, effective, and timely manner-ensure all product is dumped out of every bag
• Use utility tools safely and for appropriate task
• Clean bag break, super sack un-loader, pneumatic convey lines, blender, hoppers, and other supporting equipment as needed
• Operate equipment manually and by the HMI
• Completes master sanitation in all processing areas & documents accordingly
• Fill out all logs and paperwork legibly

• Willingness to work night shift when needed
• Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
• Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
• Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
• Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
• Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
• Candidates will be required to pass a background screening, pre-employment drug test, and fit test.
