Gem State Staffing-Caldwell is seeking an experienced and dedicated Pipe Foreman to lead a crew of 5-6 pipelayers in the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems. The Pipe Foreman will oversee all aspects of pipe installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while meeting project deadlines and specifications. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in underground utility construction.

Responsibilities

• Crew Management: Supervise, train, and motivate a crew of 5-6 pipelayers, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Project Execution: Oversee the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and local regulations.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
• Quality Control: Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure it meets engineering standards, blueprints, and client requirements.
• Equipment and Materials: Coordinate the use of heavy machinery, tools, and materials, ensuring proper maintenance and efficient utilization.
• Schedule Coordination: Work with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones.
• Problem Solving: Address on-site challenges, such as unexpected obstacles or soil conditions, and implement effective solutions to keep projects on track.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, crew performance, and material usage, and report progress to project management.
• Client and Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide updates and resolve any issues that arise during construction.

Qualifications

• Experience: 6-10 years of experience as a Pipe Foreman, with a proven track record of successfully managing pipe installation projects.
• Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of water, sewer, and storm drain system installation, including pipe materials (PVC, ductile iron, concrete, etc.), trenching, and backfilling techniques.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a crew of 5-6 pipelayers, fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Safety Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent preferred; familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
• Blueprint Reading: Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Equipment Operation: Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, and compactors is a plus.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with crew members, project managers, and clients.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of local and state regulations governing underground utility construction.
• Proficiency in using GPS and laser-guided equipment for pipe alignment and grading.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pipe installation and site conditions.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Work Environment

• The Pipe Foreman will work primarily outdoors at construction sites, often in varying weather conditions.
• The role may require extended hours, including occasional weekends, to meet project deadlines.
• Moderate travel to job sites within the region may be required.
