Gem State Staffing-Caldwell is seeking candidates for a full-time, year-round, Operations Laborer for a local fertilizer plant. This position is a temp-to-hire opportunity for an outstanding Idaho based employer.
Job Description
Under direction from location management, Operations Laborers will wear many hats. Candidate may participate in any of the following activities: batch plant support, forklift operation, unloading trucks and rail cars, delivery of ag tanks and pumps, customer service, parts pickup, plant maintenance etc.
Every day is a little different. This position provides an opportunity to learn many different skills in the agriculture industry. Our client prides itself on developing employees and promoting within. The industry is largely seasonal with long work weeks expected during peak production periods.
Requirements
Class A CDL – Ideal but not required
Clean driving record
Must pass criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs occasionally
Physically active work history
Excellent attendance record in previous employment
Agriculture background preferred but not required
Customer Service mentality and professional appearance
Details
Work week is Mon-Fri, typically 7am start time. Saturdays mandatory during peak production periods
40-60 hours per week is typical
Temp-to-Hire opportunity
Weekly payroll schedule, every Friday for last week’s hours
Starting pay rate: $18.00/hr DOE

I began my journey with Gem State Staffing in the Boise location way back in 2005. We only had 3 branches at that time! Over the years, I've managed Boise, Twin Falls-Burley, and back to Boise again. I was promoted to COO/District Manager for Idaho and our single location in Salt Lake City, and operated in that capacity for 8 years. We opened several new locations under my direction and increased our geographic footprint to cover all of Southern Idaho. Many of the employees currently employed by Gem State Staffing were hired and trained by me, a feat I am very proud of.
In early 2020 the ownership for Gem State Staffing offered me an opportunity to buy the Caldwell branch and operate the location under a franchise-like agreement. I'm happy to report that in January 2024, I completed my purchase of Gem State Staffing-Caldwell.
