Overview
Gem State Staffing-Nampa is seeking motivated General Laborers to join an excavation crew specializing in the installation of water, sewer, and storm lines for commercial properties. No prior experience is required, though candidates with up to 1 year of experience are welcome. This entry-level position requires reliable transportation to and from work, with most job sites located locally and some regional travel. The pay rate ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and skill development.
Responsibilities
- Site Preparation: Assist in preparing job sites by clearing debris, setting up barriers, and organizing materials for excavation work.
- Excavation Support: Support the excavation crew by performing tasks such as digging trenches, moving soil, and handling materials for water, sewer, and storm line installations.
- Tool and Equipment Use: Operate basic hand tools (e.g., shovels, picks, rakes) and assist with the use of heavy machinery under supervision.
- Pipe Installation Assistance: Aid pipelayers and crew members in positioning and securing pipes, fittings, and other materials during installation.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe work environment on job sites.
- Site Cleanup: Clean and maintain work areas, ensuring proper disposal of debris and organization of tools and materials.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with crew members and follow instructions from supervisors to complete tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
- Experience: 0-1 year of experience in construction, excavation, or related fields; no prior experience required.
- Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites, as most sites are local with occasional regional travel.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), working in trenches, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
