Job Description

Gem State Staffing is looking for  ESL Instructor/Teacher for a long term position in Twin Falls, will be working 30 hours a week. Will assist in the ESL lab by helping individuals to learn to speak, read, and write English.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach students to improve their English speaking, listening, and reading skills in group classes.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and/or group instruction that adapts to the needs of students with varying abilities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to maximize student learning including community-based, immersive learning experiences.
  • Assess, record and monitor the progress of all students, providing feedback.
  • Perform basic attendance accounting.
  • Realistically evaluate students progress with expectations appropriate for the student. 
  • Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning.
  • Generate enthusiasm for English learning and inspire all students to work to their potential. 
  • Promote a student-centered culture which is positive, purposeful and professional.
  • Participate positively in meetings, follow policies and generally contributing to the effective and efficient running of the program.
  • Maintain an effective working relationships & collaboration with fellow teachers, and staff.
  • May be required on rare occasion to work outside office hours (Mon-Fri, 8-5pm) for special events.
    Maintain teaching materials and resources as needed.


Teacher work hours: 8:00am-2:00pm, Monday - Thursday (Teacher meetings are scheduled weekly outside teacher hours at a time when all staff are available).
Class instruction hours: 9:00am-2:00pm, Monday - Thursday

  • Have GED or High School diploma, preferred post-secondary education.
  • Motivated and able to work constantly, efficiently, and correctly, without direct supervision.
  • Have solid writing skills and communication skills required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check (No felons and/or violent and theft related charges).
  • Must have own vehicle to make it to and from work each day.
  • Must have a standard valid drivers license.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including computer, printer, and copier,
  • Familiarity with Google Drive and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to work comfortably with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective time management and record-keeping skills.
  • Fluency in the English language with strong written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language preferred

Job Type: Full-time/Long Term

Salary: $14.00/hour

Schedule: Day shift/ Monday to Friday
