Job Description

 Gem State Staffing is seeking a Truck Driver for our lumber yard, you will be responsible for transporting lumber and building materials to and from construction sites, customer locations, and our Lumber Yards. Your role involves safely operating and maneuvering heavy-duty trucks, ensuring timely deliveries, and assisting with loading and unloading materials.

Class A CDL driver for a lumber yard may perform a variety of tasks, including: 
 
  • Deliveries: Transporting lumber and other building materials to customers 
     
     
  • Load preparation: Building and staging loads for delivery 
     
     
  • Yard functions: Completing inventory counts, material handling, and yard organization 
     
     
  • Truck maintenance: Inspecting truck equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water 
     
     
  • Payment collection: Collecting payment for goods delivered and delivery charges 
     
     
  • Safe driving: Using safe driving techniques and adhering to traffic and safety regulations 
     
     
Other jobs in a lumber yard include: 
 
  • Lumber stacker: Receiving cut lumber, stacking it onto shop carts, and moving it to the next staging area 
     
     
  • Lumber handler: Greeting customers, stocking products, and loading and securing materials 
     
     
  • Ops coordinator: Managing stock and inventory, and assisting with scheduling deliveries 
     
     
  • Forklift operator: Counting, unloading, and storing materials 

 

Job Requirements

  • Maintain a valid Class A CDL license.
  • Maintain current medical card.
  • A good driver record.
  • Previous experience as a truck driver, preferably in the lumber or construction industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety.
