Gem State Staffing-Caldwell is currently seeking a Mechanical Systems Technician for a college campus. Ideal candidates will ensures all campus buildings have heat, ventilation, air conditioning, and hot domestic water systems appropriately functioning. Technical knowledge of HVAC mechanical and control systems, keeping in compliance with safety regulations. Collaborate with outside contractors on installing, maintaining, and improving systems functionality as necessary.

Duties Include:

  • Monitor mechanical systems for approximately 33 college buildings
  • Regularly test boiler safety controls; low-pressure hot water boiler systems
  • Maintain logs (i.e. lock out tag out, and permits)
  • Service, diagnose, repair, and operate a variety of heating /cooling systems
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls and control circuits related to HVAC equipment and appliances
  • Air conditioning and ventilating equipment; chillers, hot water boilers, air handlers, fans, furnaces, fireplaces, kilns, cooling towers, fire dampers, fume hoods, and appliances.
  • You will be required to kneel, crawl, bend, crouch, lift, climb ladders, carry objects, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Trade school and have an equivalent combination of education and relatable experience
  • Three to five years previous HVAC work experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment, electrical and DDC systems
  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license, be vehicle insurable with a good driving record in accordance with The College of Idaho’s vehicle policy
  • Applicants will be required to successfully pass a nationwide criminal background check.

Details:

  • Day Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
  • Pay Rate: $26.00/hr
  • On-call as assigned/needed- evenings, weekends, closures, inclement weather
